Who hasn’t had to try to customize a mobile phone to the desired size, we found that for one reason or another we cannot resize icons on Android . Especially when trying to customize the mobile phone for seniors and make them more accessible, we are faced with this problem, which has been resolved with newer versions of Android.
Previously and without progressing further in Android 10, we couldn’t resize icons and had to choose other alternatives depending on the apps. We now have the options we need, and as you will see, some of the customization levels also allow us to change them to our liking. On Huawei or Samsung mobile phones this option is not possible and we will have to agree to change the network.
Steps To Resize Icons on Android
If we have a mobile phone with Android Stock and the latest Android 11, we have very simple options to resize icons on Android. Google wanted to simplify the process so that we just have to access the settings and adapt them the way we need them. We must do the following:
- Go to Settings.
- Go to the Screen section.
- Choosing Styles and Wallpaper.
We’re going to come across several customization options here, but what we want to change is at the bottom of the Grid menu. At this point, we can choose whether we want to split the icons on the screen into 5 × 5, 4 × 4, 3 × 3, or 2 × 2 icons. They will all apply the change and the applications will be resized proportionally.
Resize Icons In MIUI
In case our mobile phone is Xiaomi, we also have the option to change the size of the icons. In MIUI 12, we will need to do the following:
- We get access to mobile settings.
- We enter the main screen.
- Now choose the size of the icon.
- Finally, we will select the desired size to see the preview.

Change Grid on Android
On the rest of Android phones, where we cannot choose the size of the icons we want, a very useful option is to adapt the grid so that the icons are not too close to each other . In fact, this does not look like changing icons, but in practice it gives a similar result. As we said earlier, this can be used on Huawei, Samsung, OPPO and others models.
- First, we just need to hold down / long press the main screen.
- Then we’ll touch on the settings.
- And in the Design or Grid section, choose the one that allows you to use the fewest icons.
